Florida tops recors in 2015

As a part of my job in the Finnish-American Chamber of Commerce, Florida Chapter, I maintain the webpages, social media and the blog. I mainly post about the recent events, happenings and the press releases we send out. Recently, I made a blog post about the situation in Florida’s population, employment and job market and how they have developed in 2015.

Read the blog post below (published in: http://facc-fl.com/florida-tops-records-in-2015/):

Record high population and employment in Florida

Florida’s population has reached 20 million milestone during this year 2015. The Sunshine State was adding more residents than all other states except Texas during 2015. According to the state’s Office of Economic and Demographic Research, Florida is forecasted to add five million new residents by 2030.

The growth Florida has seen in 2015 has meant record-high employment as the job numbers have been improving. This has given the state signals of growing economy.

Florida no 1 for Americans on the move

Florida is the number one state where Americans and immigrants choose to settle. The population has been continuing to move from north to south in the U.S. The largest group to move to Sunshine State are young college graduates. Florida’s economy has said to stay healthy partly due to the population movement.

Job market growing in all major sectors

Florida’s job market has been growing in all major private economic sectors. The biggest estimated job gains by industry between October 2014 and October 2015 were Professional and Business Services, Leisure and Hospitality, Education and Health Services, and Retail Trade. Florida added approximately 240,000 nonfarm jobs in 2015.

Tourism to break records

The year 2015 sees another record, as the Florida Holiday Tourism will break a record. When adding the numbers from December visitors, Florida tourism visitor amount should reach Governor Rick Scott’s goal of 100 million. In 2014 the tourist spending totaled $82 billion and $4.9 billion in tax revenue. The numbers are predicted to be exceeded as we enter the new year 2016.
